Today’s Top Ten Tuesday, as suggested by The Broke and the Bookish is “Ten Childhood Characters You’d Love to Revisit as Adults”.
- Max from Where the Wild Things Are
- Henry Huggins
- Hansel and Gretel
- Heidi
- Madeline
- Alice from Alice in Wonderland
- Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Fern from Charlotte’s Web
- Ralph Moody from Little Britches
- Caddie Woodlawn
This list was a challenge because a lot of the books that I read growing up either had animals as characters or had the child grown up before the book or series was finished. How about you? Did you come up with a list?
Roald Dahl books are the best! I can’t imagine my childhood without his books like Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach and The BFG!

Thanks, Tanvi! In all honesty, the only Roald Dahl book I’ve read is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I saw the movie James and the Giant Peach. But after seeing so many of his books on other lists, I’ll have to go back and read more of his books, if I can ever find the time. 🙂

Aaah! I can’t believe I made that mistake! Thanks for pointing that out to me without really pointing it out. 😉
It’s “Fern” from Charlotte’s Web. Of course, Charlotte was the spider!
Anyway, thanks for stopping by and commenting here!

Alice was also on my list! And I like the other characters you listed as well. I also thought about including Max; Where the Wild Things Are was one of my absolute favorite books when I was a kid. 🙂

I had totally forgotten about Charlie! That kid either had the best life ever after that point… or went totally Wonka 2.0 insane…

I know, right? I must confess, though, that I have never read the sequel, Charlie and the Glass Elevator, but it is my understanding that it immediately followed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, right from the glass elevator breaking through the roof. I have it on my TBR list now.
Thanks for stopping by and for commenting, Lauren.

I actually forgot all about that one! I haven’t read it either (obviously), but now I might need to pick it up…
