Monday Musings: Books, Movies, Music, Faith/Scripture — “Secret Ambition”

I’ve been listening to Christian music for many, many years ago. I have many favorite songs and artists and have seen quite a few in concert. But, I would have to say this is my all time favorite Christian song. It is sung by Michael W. Smith, who has had some wonderful songs with powerful lyrics.

I love “Secret Ambition” because it is the story of Jesus, and Jesus is what Christianity is all about. Jesus is the source and foundation of my faith. To know that Jesus loved me enough to die to save me from my sins and that He loves me even now, and to know that whenever I am going through a difficult time or facing a challenging circumstance, I can call out to Him any time of the day or night, and He hears me, and He listens. He has answered many of my prayers over the years and I know I can trust Him.

Songs like “Secret Ambition” lift my spirits and help me to praise the Lord and feel close to Him. I hope you will take the time to click the button and read the words as Michael W. Smith sings them and that they will inspire you to turn to Jesus too.

  1. So much good music out there. I don’t know what I would do without K Love. I agree with Warrior Girl — love For King and Country! I saw Michael W. Smith many years ago at the New York State Fair when he was in concert with Amy Grant. Two giants in Christian music!

  2. I enjoy “Waymaker” by Michael W. Smith and I heard “Friends are Friends Forever” the other week for the first time. Not bad! 😉 My all-time favorite song has got to be “Burn the Ships” by For King and Country, though. It fits my life so well in the “let things go and face the future with hope” kind of way!

    • I’ve never heard Michael W. Smith’s version of “Waymaker”, but I LOVE Mandisa’s version of “Waymaker”. Her version is the first I ever heard, and I saw her do it in concert, so hers will always be my favorite. So sad that we have lost her from this world so soon.

      I also like Michael W. Smith’s “Friends”

Michael W. Smith is still recording and releasing new music. You should look him up because he’s got lots of good songs. Another of my favorite Michael W. Smith songs is “Above All”.

      • I never knew Mandisa did a version of that song! I’ll have to look that up! I agree though, it is really sad that she died. 😦

And I think I heard “Above All” before – if I’m thinking of the right song, we do it in church every now and again! 🙂
